This hand sewn ornament celebrates the iconic Associate Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a strong advocate for gender equality and women's rights. 5.5"
Each ornament is made using the traditional method of zardozi embroidery. Zari (meaning gold) embroidery. It is a highly skilled and rare embroidery technique that traditionally uses gold wires and jewels. Zardozi work is a rare and respected craft, with skills passed down from generation to generation.
These ornaments are handmade by women in rural Thailand who have found work they can do at home (vs. in a factory) through a local charity that our vendor has collaborated with for years. Over 200 skilled women work at home hand sewing the decorations and many women have been doing so for more than ten years.
